Laclede Gas Charitable Trust
Grant-Making Philosophy
The Trust represents Laclede Gas Company's recognition of its civic responsibility to those in its service area. Charitable organizations promote the enrichment and sustenance of the community. Because the Trust cannot contribute to every organization that requests funding, it has developed the following guidelines for its contributions. An organization must be a 501(c)(3) organization to receive funding. Further, no contribution will be made to an organization if the contribution may impair the independence of a member of Laclede's Board of Directors.
Program Support
- Human needs and services
- Education and educational institutions (primarily through matching gift program for secondary educational institutions)
- United Way
- Arts and culture
- Civic and community projects
The Trust funds operating support, special projects and annual support. Please note that the Trust generally does not fund
- Individuals or family support
- Advertising
- Political, labor, fraternal or religious organizations or civic clubs
- Individual K-8 schools or school-affiliated clubs or events (public or private)
- Sports, athletic events or athletic programs
- Travel related events, including student trips or tours
- Development or production of books, films, videos or television programs
- Endowment or memorial campaigns
Geographic Focus
Contributions are limited to those organizations in Laclede Gas Company's service area.
Application Procedures
An organization seeking a grant should complete a grant application (PDF/2 pages/70k), attaching those documents specified on the application. Submit the proposal with its attachments to Laclede Gas Charitable Trust, Grant Applications, 720 Olive Street, Rm. 1517, St. Louis, MO 63101. The Trustees of the Charitable Trust meet at least semi-annually. Capital campaign or multi-year requests are considered by a committee of the Company's Board of Directors on an annual basis. Applications must be submitted by U.S. Mail.
