Excavation damage to underground utility facilities, whether they are gas, electric, phone, fiber, cable TV, water or sewer represents the single greatest threat to utility service and public safety. Laclede works with area excavators and others to reduce the frequency of such damage and to create a safer environment for everyone.

On Wednesday, March 17, 2010, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon presented a proclamation (pdf, 531.28KB) declaring April 2010 as Missouri's Safe Digging Month to Laclede Gas Company's Craig Hoeferlin, assistant vice president, Engineering & Field Services; who also serves as president of the Missouri One Call System Board of Directors.
