Installation Process
New Service
To start the process of obtaining a new natural gas service for a commercial or industrial client, the authorized contact for the customer should contact the Commercial/Industrial Representative and request service. The Representative completes an Application for Commercial and Industrial Gas Load - Form 350 from information obtained from the authorized contact such as approximate installation date, delivery pressure, projected load, proposed meter location, etc. This form requests that Laclede Gas Company's Engineering Department design the new service.
After receiving the Form 350, Engineering will complete the Installation Summary of Commercial and Industrial Gas Load - Form 765 which locates the meter, locates and sizes the service, and may include the customer contribution for the service. This form is sent to the Commercial/Industrial Representative to obtain the customer's authorization to begin construction. The customer approves the meter and service location, pays the customer contribution if required, and identifies any privately owned utilities. Privately owned utilities are identified on Notice of Privately Owned Underground Facilities - Form 328 and includes such items as sprinkler systems, drainage lines, water lines, etc.
After customer approval, the Engineering Department is notified and completes a Service Installation Order - Form 610. This form is sent to Laclede's Construction and Maintenance department to install the service line and a copy of this form is sent to Laclede's Meter Shop for meter fabrication and installation.
Upgrade Meter & Service
The authorized contact contacts the Commercial/Industrial Representative and request service. The Representative completes an Application for Commercial and Industrial Gas Load - Form 350. This form requests that Laclede's Engineering Department evaluate the existing service with the new loads.
If the service line is adequate but the meter is too small, Engineering will complete a meter change order and send it to the meter shop to have a replacement meter installed.
If the service line and meter are not adequate, the service upgrade is treated like a new service request.
Form Summary
The following list are forms that Laclede Gas Company uses for installation of a new service or to upgrade an existing service:
- Application for Commerical and Industrial Gas Load
- This is an internal form between Commercial/Industrial Sales and Engineering. This form provides the basic information for Engineering to design and plan the service.
- Installation Summary of Commerical and Industrial Gas Loads
- This is an internal form between Commercial/Industrial Sales and Engineering. This form provides the basic information for Engineering to design and plan the service.
- Notice of Privately Owned Underground Facilities
- This form, signed by the authorized contact, states that such items as sprinkler systems, buried conduit, satellite cables, etc. have been located and marked. This form must be signed before construction can begin.
- Service Installation Order
- An internal form used by Engineering to instruct Construction & Maintenance to install service to the building. This form is also sent to the Meter Shop to install the meter after the service line is installed.
