For Efficiency

Today's gas appliances use about 30% less energy than the standard appliances of only 20 years ago. In fact, you can now purchase a gas furnace that is 96% efficient. The overall gas system (modern appliances using fuel supplied by an efficient production and delivery process) makes natural gas by far the most efficient form of home energy in Laclede's service area. Neither electric resistance heat nor the conventional electric heat pump, which loses most of its efficiency when the temperature drops below 30 degrees, provides as efficient an overall energy system.
