Customers of Laclede Gas Company will likely see lower monthly gas bills for the 2011-12 heating season (November through March). On October 31, Laclede Gas filed a request with the Missouri Public Service Commission (MoPSC) to lower its rates by 4.8%. If approved, Laclede rates will be the lowest in eight years, with customers paying an average price of $0.59 per therm for natural gas for the 2011-12 heating season, down from $0.64 per therm for the 2010-11 heating season.
The proposed decrease would result in a price reduction for the typical residential customer of roughly $30 for this winter’s heating season, compared to the amount the customer would have paid based on last winter’s rates.
“I’m pleased that Laclede is in a position to pass along these savings to our customers,” said Doug Yaeger, Chairman and CEO of The Laclede Group. “We work every day to manage our natural gas supply in order to ensure that we provide reliable gas service at a fair price for Laclede customers across the St. Louis region.”
