ST. LOUIS, MO, September 2, 2005 — The Laclede Group, Inc. (NYSE: LG) announced that its charitable giving arm, Laclede Gas Charitable Trust, will match dollar-for-dollar donations made by any employee of the Company and its subsidiaries on or before October 31, 2005 for emergency relief efforts in the devastating wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Matching funds from The Laclede Group Matching Gift Program will be donated to the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and the United Way.
“The devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina is unprecedented,” said Douglas H. Yaeger, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Laclede. “We realize that the recovery process will take a long time and hope that these contributions will help in this massive relief effort.”
The Laclede Group is the parent organization of Laclede Gas Company, its regulated core utility; and SM&P Utility Resources, one of the nation’s major underground facilities locating and marking service businesses; and Laclede Energy Resources (LER), a gas marketing and management service. SM&P and LER comprise the principle base of the non-regulated component of The Laclede Group.
