ELANTAS PDG, Inc. and Laclede Gas Partner to Improve Energy Efficiency and Protect Environment

Company Receives $14,258 Rebate for Reducing Its Natural Gas Usage

October 27, 2009

Mike Spotanski, Senior Vice President of Operations & Marketing for Laclede Gas Company presents Dr. Susan W. Graham, President and CEO of ELANTAS PDG, Inc. a rebate check related to recent efficiency improvements.

Since ELANTAS PDG, Inc. started in business 90 years ago this November, its mission has always been to provide the world’s most reliable, innovative and cost-effective products to the electrical and electronics industry.  Today, Laclede Gas is helping ELANTAS with its cost effectiveness thanks to Laclede’s energy-efficiency program for commercial and industrial customers. ELANTAS recently received a rebate of $14,258 for improving the efficiency of its process boilers and reducing its natural gas usage by more than 21,000 therms annually as a result of this program.

“We made this investment in our plant to be better able to service our customers for the long run and to work in a way that takes care of our environment. These ideals are part of our Company’s Guiding Principles of Safety, Service, Quality and Innovation. Our receipt of this rebate covering a portion of our investment through Laclede’s energy-efficiency program is a great recognition of our commitment to reduce our costs, while also demonstrating our commitment to environmental responsibility,” said Dr. Susan W. Graham, President and Chief Executive Officer of ELANTAS PDG, Inc. “We want to thank Laclede for its efforts to help us achieve these important objectives.”

Established in November 2008, Laclede’s commercial/industrial rebate program provides rebates to commercial and industrial customers for the implementation of natural gas energy-efficiency improvements, including part or all of the cost of an energy audit used to identify rebated improvements.  Beginning in 2007, the Laclede Energy Efficiency Collaborative designed a portfolio of cost-effective, energy-efficiency programs for Laclede’s residential, commercial and industrial customers.

“Natural gas is the original green energy, and its direct use is better for the environment than using other non-renewable energy sources,” said Michael R. Spotanski, senior vice president of Operations and Marketing for Laclede Gas.  “Through our energy-efficiency programs, we are encouraging our customers to conserve this valuable energy resource for everyone and reduce their environmental impact as much as possible.”

Laclede offers energy-efficiency programs for its residential customers as well.  Over the past year Laclede has awarded rebates to more than 1,700 residential customers toward the installation of high-efficiency furnaces, boilers and programmable thermostats.  Also, as part of its portfolio of programs aimed at assisting its customers, Laclede provides nearly $1 million annually to community action agencies in its service area to supplement the federal Low Income Weatherization Assistance Program.  Customers interested in Laclede’s energy-efficiency programs can find more information at www.lacledegas.com.

A subsidiary of The Laclede Group, Inc. (NYSE: LG), Laclede Gas Company is the largest natural gas distribution utility in Missouri, serving approximately 632,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in the city of St. Louis and ten other counties in Eastern Missouri.
