Laclede Gas Company was recognized for its participation throughout the 25-year history of the St. Louis Public Schools Career Awareness Fair. For its commitment, the company was presented with a student-designed commemorative poster at this year’s event, which was held Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25 at America’s Center.
“We are excited to continue our support for the St. Louis Public Schools Career Awareness Fair” said Rick Skau, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Laclede Gas. “As a 25-year participant, we feel this is an important event for the community, which helps students gain perspective for possible future careers.” Approximately five thousand eighth graders from
St. Louis City and County were expected to attend the fair, which shows how academic skills are applied in a variety of work environments.
Laclede employees demonstrated instrumentation and computer-based applications, introducing students to possible careers with the company. The annual fair encourages students to develop a strategy to apply academic skills to employment situations, and stresses the importance of post-secondary training and education.
