The Gas House Gang Recruits New Members

What is blue, black, brown, green and soon will be read all over? It’s the Gas House Gang — a kid-friendly website recently launched by the Laclede Gas Company. Found at www.lacledegaskids.com or through a link on the Laclede Home Page, the new website was developed to teach children about natural gas safety, the environment and the science behind natural gas energy. The site is a safe and positive place for children to learn and will also serve as an educational resource for parents and teachers.
The Gas House Gang is home to the following cast of characters, each with their own special focus and web page:
- Pierre the Penguin: AKA “the ring-leader.” Pierre offers messages on weatherization and conservation. He was named after Pierre Laclede, the founder of St. Louis.
- Daisy the Dinosaur: She shares information about the history and discovery of natural gas.
- Eco the Frog: She lets kids know that it’s easy being green and enviro-friendly when it comes to energy use.
- Jack the Dog: He sniffs out safety concerns inside the home.
- Murray the Mole: He’s the outdoor safety expert, complete with hard hat and clipboard!
Each topic includes a downloadable PDF file with an information page, a game or activity, and a coloring sheet. More activities and interactive games will be added in the future, including episodes of “Kids Can Cook”—a series of children’s cooking shows currently airing on Charter OnDemand.

Laclede Gas Company is the largest natural gas distribution utility in Missouri, serving approximately 630,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in the city of St. Louis and ten other counties in Eastern Missouri.
