Most customers who are enrolled in Laclede Gas Company’s Budget Billing program will pay an average of 13 percent less than they currently are paying. Laclede Gas Company announced today its budget billing customers will benefit as the effect of continuing lower wholesale natural gas prices are factored into Laclede’s normal January review of the program. This latest change follows the special review of customer budget bill amounts in November 2008 that was made in concert with the rate reduction the Company implemented at that time for all customers to reflect reduced wholesale natural gas prices.
The typical Budget Billing customer will pay about $97 per month compared to the previous average of $112 per month. Budget plan amounts are based on individual customer usage characteristics, and as a result, some customers may not experience a decrease. Approximately 143,000 Laclede Gas customers are enrolled in Budget Billing, which is designed to spread a customer’s gas bill evenly throughout the year. The new plan amounts will remain in place until the next scheduled review in July 2009.
