What: Laclede Gas Company actively participates in the St .Louis edition of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” - donates services and feeds more than 500 Project Volunteers!
Background: Laclede Gas Company has joined with ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to help one deserving family get the home of their dreams. In addition to donating their time and resources in relocating natural gas services; Laclede will also be working with the builders of the new home to certify that it meets the requirements of the Green Building Initiative (GBI). Laclede is an industry leader in GBI, an environmental approach to construction. In addition, Laclede is donating a gas grill for backyard barbequing and has agreed to feed more than 500 project volunteers on Friday, Sept. 5.
The St. Louis edition focuses on the Martirez family. Dawn and Emmanuel Martirez have three children: daughter Elle and twins Evan and Alex. Dawn’s experience as a pediatric cancer nurse prepared her for the challenges of her own situation; both Evan and Alex have extremely rare genetic conditions. As the twins get older, the family’s Shrewsbury home and its cramped space, narrow hallways, steep stairs and single bathroom that is not ADA compliant is becoming problematic for the twins’ development. While the Martirez family vacations at Disney World, the show will completely tear down the existing structure (7329 Brunswick, Shrewsbury) and rebuild a home that fills all of the Martirez family’s needs.
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, which has won back-to-back Emmy Awards as Best Reality Program (non-competitive), is in its 6th season on ABC. The program is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Anthony Dominici is the executive producer; and David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA.
