Laclede Gas Fosters Residential Revitalization

January 09, 2007

ST. LOUIS, MO, January 9, 2007 — Laclede Gas Company today announced the sale of its property at the corner of Chouteau and Newstead to Station G Partnership LLC. The property includes a natural gas holder and the Laclede Gas and Light Company Pump House.

The holder, which has been recognized as a local landmark for more than 100 years, is visible from Interstate 64 between Kingshighway and Vandeventer and has historically been used to store and deliver natural gas to customers during periods of peak usage.

The members of Station G Partnership, Steve Trampe, Mike Barry and Jerry King, are well known for redeveloping properties in the St. Louis region. Station G Partnership plans to demolish the natural gas holder and redevelop the property for residential purposes, including townhouses and mid-rise condominiums.

"We believe the redevelopment of this property by Station G Partnership will benefit the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood and its residents,” said Douglas H. Yaeger, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Laclede.

Laclede Gas, a subsidiary of The Laclede Group (NYSE: LG), is the largest gas distribution company in Missouri, serving more than 630,000 natural gas customers in St. Louis and surrounding counties in Eastern Missouri.
