About Missouri Natural Gas

Missouri Natural Gas (MONAT) was established in 1929 in Poplar Bluff, MO. MONAT’s Division Office in Farmington, MO was built in 1950. There are currently four district offices in the network (Farmington, Poplar Bluff, Festus and Union). Laclede Gas Company purchased MONAT in 1972.

MONAT serves eight counties and approximately 28 different communities. In 2006, MONAT acquired the distribution system, adding 1,400 customers to the network. Currently, MONAT serves approximately 50,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers.

A few operational differences between Missouri Natural (MONAT) and Laclede:

• MONAT’s wage rates are different than Laclede’s.
• MONAT has a business office in every district within the Division.
• Two of MONAT’s districts within the Division are consolidated with all operations in one location.
• MONAT does not have a transportation department. All vehicle and equipment maintenance/repairs are completed by outside vendors.
• MONAT’s Service Department is an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. operation. There is an on call serviceman in each district to handle emergency/after hour calls.
